Guest Wi-Fi Terms & Conditions
Live terms ยท Last updated 2 September 2026
These terms apply when you use the guest Wi-Fi provided by Duke Of Gordon Hotel, Kingussie. By choosing to connect, you agree to use the service in accordance with these terms.
1. The service
Guest Wi-Fi is provided as a complimentary convenience for hotel guests and visitors. Availability, coverage, speed and compatibility can vary and are not guaranteed. The hotel may change, suspend or withdraw the service where reasonably necessary for maintenance, security, capacity or operational reasons.
2. Your responsibility
You are responsible for your device, software, accounts and the activity carried out through your connection. You should keep your device appropriately secured, install updates and use suitable protection for sensitive communications.
3. Acceptable use
You must not use the guest Wi-Fi to:
- break the law or encourage unlawful activity;
- access, distribute or store unlawful material;
- attempt unauthorised access to accounts, devices, systems or networks;
- interfere with, damage, overload or disrupt the Wi-Fi or another network;
- spread malware, carry out malicious scanning or security attacks;
- send unsolicited bulk messages or spam;
- harass others or infringe another person's rights; or
- use the service in a way that unreasonably prevents others from using it.
4. Security and monitoring
The hotel may process connection and device information necessary to operate, troubleshoot and protect the guest network. This may include connection times, the device address presented to the Wi-Fi, IP address where available, access point information, traffic information and authorisation status. Further details are in the Guest Wi-Fi Privacy Notice.
5. Disconnecting or blocking devices
The hotel may temporarily disconnect, restrict or block a device where it reasonably believes this is necessary to manage capacity, troubleshoot a fault, protect the network or users, investigate misuse, or enforce these terms. A temporary reconnect command is not the same as permanently blocking a device.
6. Internet content and third-party services
The hotel does not control websites, apps or services you access through the internet and is not responsible for their content, security, availability or privacy practices. Your use of third-party services is subject to their own terms and policies.
7. Marketing is optional
You do not have to agree to marketing to use guest Wi-Fi. If you choose to subscribe to hotel marketing, that choice is separate from these Wi-Fi terms and can be withdrawn later.
8. Liability
The guest Wi-Fi is provided as a convenience and should not be relied upon for critical communications or guaranteed connectivity. To the extent permitted by law, the hotel is not responsible for indirect losses arising solely from the availability, speed or interruption of the complimentary Wi-Fi service, or from third-party internet content.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, or affects any mandatory rights you have as a consumer.
9. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated when the Wi-Fi service, security requirements or applicable rules change. The current version will be available from the guest Wi-Fi sign-in page.
10. Law and contact
These terms are governed by the law applicable in Scotland, subject to any mandatory consumer rights that apply to you. Questions about the guest Wi-Fi can be raised with Reception.
