Guest Wi-Fi Privacy Notice
Draft for review before going live.
When you use the Duke of Gordon Hotel guest Wi-Fi, we collect the information you enter on the sign-in form and technical information needed to provide, secure and administer the Wi-Fi service.
What we collect
This may include your name, email address, postcode, optional mobile number, whether you are travelling independently or with a tour operator/group, the operator/group name where supplied, connection date and time, Wi-Fi network and access-point information, your device's Wi-Fi MAC address, IP address where available, browser/device information and a hostname or device name reported by the network controller.
Why we use it
We use this information to provide guest Wi-Fi, manage access, troubleshoot problems, protect the hotel network, identify and block devices where necessary, and understand how guests are travelling to the hotel.
Optional email marketing and return offers
If you separately tick the marketing box, we record that consent and may use your email address to send Duke of Gordon Hotel news, breaks, events, post-stay messages and special return offers. These messages may contain a unique voucher code. Wi-Fi access does not depend on agreeing to marketing, and you can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.
Device identifiers
Many modern phones and tablets use a private or randomised Wi-Fi MAC address. We record the address presented to the hotel Wi-Fi; this may not be the device's permanent hardware address and it may change.
Access control
Hotel administrators may restrict or block a device from internet access where this is reasonably necessary to protect the network, guests, staff or third parties.
Retention and your rights
Before launch, this notice should be completed with the hotel's approved retention periods, data-controller identity, privacy contact details, legal bases for processing, recipient information and the information required by the hotel's wider privacy policy.
